Two pet friendly holiday cottages each sleeping four people
When we first saw Little Moon Cottage we fell in love with the location, we've been here twelve years and we still find the views breathtaking. It seems our visitors agree - Little Moon Cottage has been so popular that we have decided to let Sunbeam Cottage next door for the summer this year.
The cottages sit on a leafy lane at the foot of Tennyson Down with woodland to the front and rolling countryside to the rear. The gardens stretch out towards the wooded slopes of the down in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The downs are owned by the National Trust, so you can walk wherever you like from Alum Bay and the Needles to Freshwater Bay and from there to a network of trails that cover the whole Island.
Dogs are very welcome at Little Moon Cottage and at Sunbeam Cottage too, the gardens are fully enclosed to a height of 3ft (1m) and the area is perfect for those all-important short walks, perhaps ending with a meal at the pub which is a five minute stroll up the lane from the cottage.
In the evening we often sit at the picnic bench with a drink, watching the sun go down. Bats flit silently overhead and sometimes we see an owl swooping over the field (while we're on the subject of wildlife; rabbits, foxes and badgers dig up the lawn and red squirrels plunder the bird feeders!)
Inside, the cottages are cosy and comfortable. The bright dining area or the sunny seats by the patio doors in Little Moon Cottage allow you to enjoy your breakfast with a lovely view down the garden. The dining area in Sunbeam Cottage has an all round view of the garden and the downs beyond. If you fancy sitting outside, both cottages have a patio with table and chairs.
The cottages provide a convenient base for sightseeing and visiting the many attractions on the Island including Blackgang Chine, the Steam Railway at Havenstreet and Ventnor Botanic Garden, or historic buildings such as Osborne House or Carisbrooke Castle.
There are many different beaches nearby for swimming, sunbathing or surfing and Freshwater Bay golf course is just down the road.
